About

Brown Robin is a Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserve on the limestone slopes above Grange-over-Sands, around a 35-minute drive from Hawkshead. The mixed woodland and species-rich grassland are at their best in spring, with bluebells, primroses, wood anemones and early purple orchids. In autumn the meadows host waxcap fungi, and yellow meadow ants are a feature year-round. A short circular path gives wide views over the Kent estuary towards Arnside Knott.

Roger Recommends

"Pair with a stroll along the Grange promenade and tea at Hazelmere Café. The bluebells in late April / early May are unforgettable."
