Wray Castle & Windermere Shore

About

Built in 1840 by a retired Liverpool surgeon. Beatrix Potter holidayed here as a child. The castle's interiors are sparse but the lake views are unmatched and the grounds are free to roam.

Roger Recommends

"Catch the Windermere Ferry from Ferry House and walk the shore path north — it's the original Victorian approach."
